For Prospective Students

One thing that Program II students share in common is that their educational goals cannot be satisfactorily fulfilled within Program I. In selecting Program II, you accept the challenge of designing your own individualized program of study and the responsibility for fulfilling its requirements. In return, you enjoy the benefits of focusing your undergraduate studies on what most excites you intellectually.

Interested in Joining Program II?

Four times a year, we provide information sessions to students interested in Program II. These are intended to give us an opportunity to talk with you in detail about what Program II is about, for whom it is well suited but also for whom it may not be appropriate, and what the Program II Committee, a standing committee of the Arts & Sciences Council, is looking for in a successful application. We’ll also review the various steps that need to be taken before the application is submitted.

Dean Murphey leads the conversation and looks forward to talking about these matters with you and answering any questions you may have. She also regularly invites one or two current Program II students to attend the sessions and give their perspectives on the program and the application process.

Whether you are a first-, second- or third-year student, whether you’ve only just heard about Program II and don’t know if it’s right for you or you’re already convinced that Program II is exactly what you want, we encourage you to attend our next information session.

Please note that attending one of the Program II information sessions or meeting privately with Dean Murphey is a prerequisite to applying to Program II.
