Tips for Success from Current Students
- "Attend Majors Union Events to meet super cool people"
- "Start contacting professors of classes on your course list who have not held their class for a few semesters and asking when they will next hold it"
- "Be proactive about looking through courses on DukeHub before registration since new ones get added all the time and ones you might have listed in your core curriculum may no longer be offered!"
- "Talk to alumni in your field of interest about what skills they learned at Duke that have been the most useful and make sure you learn them! Go to seminars, dinners, and events hosted by other departments in your field so you can “find your people”, the seminars are especially great for finding grad students and professors"
- "Apply for Program II research funds"
- "Come up with a good elevator pitch to explain what you’re focusing on!"
- "Read the Majors Union Newsletter for important opportunities and events"
